After scratching my brand-new iPod by merely exposing it to the atmosphere, I soon realised the need for a physical barrier between the iPod and the world in which we live to guarantee eternal shinyness.

I was drawn to this product solely by price. It is cheap and it is nasty and there is lack of protection for the wheel or the screen. However it does provide wonderful protection to the back, sides and most of the front, even if it does rattle around a bit.

Should I need to remove the pod from this case more than, say, 10 times I do fear for the longevity of this product due to the brittleness of the material.

Nevertheless for the money that I paid I could not have expected much better.

I originally purchased a PSP on launch in Sept 2005, but decided to get rid of it a year later due to a lack of any really decent games being released.

In the last year or so, I must admitt that I have seen what I would consider a dramatic increase of original titles which caught my eye which raised my interest so I decide to purchase a second hand PSP and give Sony handheld another try.

I managed to purchase what at first hand appeared to be a very decent quality second hand PSP from a market seller. However on further inspection when I got the unit home, I notice a couple of deep surface scratches at the top of the unit which stretched just to beggining of the perspect screen guard which was slightly off putting when viewing games or movies.

I did orginally consider returning the unit to the seller and damanding an exchange for a better quality unit, but after thinking it over I realised that finding a unit in mint condition was a slim shot & you would always get a few surfaces scratches on second hand units no matter how well the unit has been looked after.

After looking on Amazon, I managed to find in stock an official Sony branded black PSP replacement faceplate at only £8.99 & decided to put an order in for one straight away.

As soon as my new faceplate arrived, I took it in to my friend at work who specialises in electronic repairs & asked to fit it as a favour.

After a relatively hassle free removal of the old faceplate & a quick installation of the new unit, I have to say the end result have been well and trully awesome!

The installation only requires removing a couple of screws on the back of your PSP which hold the faceplate in place, removing the surface button and analogue nub & the installing your new faceplate on your units complete with all the old surface buttons ect fitted in place & hey presto, your PSP is looking as good as did when you first took it out of the box when it was first purchased.

If you have a old PSP which has taken a fair bit of ware and tear over the years, I recommend this officially branded faceplate and your PSP will look good as new in a couple of minutes (honestly, if you are handy with a screw driver I would say it will take 30mins top. If not, I'd advise you find a friend to help who is experienced unless you are very confident with a screw driver and your fingers)
