Poor Quality Picture, 2005-12-11
Ordered the cable to show pictures and video off my video ipod. The picture quality was terrible on both still pictures and video with soft focus and ghosting. Returned to Amazon and substituted for the official Apple one which works fine and seems much more robust. Either cable was faulty or poor quality.

There's not a lot you can expect from a product such as this, beyond that it works. This works, but there are some issues.

Firstly, the cable can be used for charging or for synching, but not both at the same time: a physical switch on the USB plug lets you choose which to do. I believe this is because of a limitation in the USB standard.

Secondly, the USB plug itself is bulky enough to prevent you from plugging things into a neighbouring USB port, if the ports are too close together. This can be overcome using a USB extension cable, but it is nonetheless irritating.

On the bright side, the sprung reel means that this is a very neat cable to store away.

We are now on our second example and both lose time - not just the odd minute now and again but up to 15 minutes a day...not much use if you want to use it as designed as an alarm clock. Pity as everything else is fine - good sound, good sync with the ipod etc.
