We were looking for a new TV after the 10+ yr old TV was starting to fall apart. It was between this LG and a 37" Toshiba and after seeing someone get the Toshiba we decided to go for the LG instead. It is nice a slimline compared to the Toshiba and has superior sound quality. The different modes come in useful, especially when watching a DVD. The stand can also swivel 20 degrees either way which I found useful if the TV is in a corner. The size - 37" - I thought was perfect for a small to medium sized room and shows the room up without it being dominating. The picture quality is excellent and the contrast levels are very good. The hidden speaker system I think is the highlight of the TV. Amazon delivery was also very good. Overall, can't fault it!

Brilliant little TV, 2008-12-29
I bought this two days ago and it's awesome. Picture and sound qualities are top notch, just like the 32" version. Light weight and easy to set up. I've already recommended this TV to my friends.

This is also the cheapest place I have found it being sold for.

This product is sold as a monitor, but I bought one as a bedroom TV. This is a quality freeview 19" TV which happens to have loads of different input connections. It has no output connectors, hence it is being sold as a monitor, but as long as you do not want to connect any speakers or a recording device, this is the TV for you.

Ordered at 1230 on Wednesday, delivered at 0935 on Thursday!!! So order with Amazon rather than other suppliers listed. This TV is fantastic, it looks good, it's build is good, and above all else the picture is GREAT! What I can't get my head around though is how anyone could view HD programmes without a separate D box, e.g. SKY HD? This comment is made bearing in mind this is a "FULL HD TV"......but I've ordered SKY HD as it's pointless not too with such a great TV!! I particularly like the Intelligent Sensor that really does adjust the picture based upon the light in the room. Without this you would forever be turning down the settings when viewing a programme in a darkened room and then turning them back up again in daylight or sunny conditions. WELL DONE LGE and WELL DONE AMAZON!!!

Since buying the 503 I've been pretty impressed. I bought the sound system to try and get the most out of my PS3 and although there's no HDMI input there is an optical slot so the loss in quality isn't really noticable.

Playing Call of Duty through the speakers is cracking...hearing people coming up behind you from the rear speakers is exactly why i bought the system in the first place. It's slightly annoying having to funnel everything through the DVD player, but there is a special Aux input mode so that it doesnt sap up too much electricity.

The only failing with the system is the DVD player, which in truth is pretty poor. DVD skipping seems to be a problem regardless of the DVD playing. Also it's very slow when initially reading the DVD so I dont even use it as a DVD player any more.

Setting up the sound on the speakers is relatively straight forward, if not a little fiddley. Something perhaps a bit more automated like you find on rival models would be a good addition though.

Overall though its a great sound system.... If you're looking for soemthing to hook up to a console then go for it, but if you're looking for a DVD upscaler I'd cut your losses and go elsewhere!
