As near to perfection as you can get. , 2008-11-11 I really did my research. I looked at several other MP3 players on the market, read reviews and really agonised over my choice.
The X-Fi was one of the first players I looked at and read reviews on. The reviews by and large were positive and it was becoming a clear choice for me initially, until it became obvious that the software provided with it was for Windows only. The player then was beginning to sound very Windows centric, which worried me, being a Mac and Linux user. I was put off.
I then dabbled with the notion of getting an iPod. Despite being a Mac fan, I have always had reservations about getting an iPod. I looked at Nano's and the Classic as alternate options. The price tag, along with reviews about poor sound quality and the need for investment in better quality headphones was a turn off. Also (as far as the Nano was concerned) no way of expanding storage capacity.
I still felt myself drawn to the X-Fi. The final element that swayed it for me was being able to buy the 16GB version of the X-Fi for £106 - compared to it's RRP of £140. It was the clincher.
I'm glad I jumped at it! I've had the player for a two weeks now, and it has been fab!
All the positives in previous reviews are correct. It's easy to use, the sound quality and video playback are ace. Battery life is great. The expandable storage is fab. It doesn't integrate as pointed out (the SD memory with the player), but I don't find that a huge bugbear. It still ID3's the tracks, so it's still totally workable. You can't pull tracks onto the player from the SD card, only photos, but it's still no big gripe for me.
The biggest positive for me was this. Despite being provided with Windows software and having a program called "Creative Centrale" that only runs on a Windows machine, my Mac can see it. I use a program called XNJB which gives you an MTP user interface to upload/download MP3's with relative ease. It's not the MOST compatible way to do it, but if you, like me, are a Mac user and were reticent to buy Zen products due to incompatibility, rest assured.
My only gripes are the fact that it doesn't come with a mains adapter for charging and the USB cable that comes supplied is WAY too short. The X-Fi feature is bogus. The player has such great sound quality that it's rendered useless. Unless you have REALLY poor quality MP3 tracks (and frankly, why would you?), I doubt you'll ever switch the X-Fi feature on. And for me being a Mac user, I couldn't get the player to recognise AAC tracks. It does on an SD card, ID3 tags them and all, but NOT if I load them on the player itself.
All in all though, the player is fab. I'm glad I went with it. I'm overall very happy. I'd give it 4.5 stars out of 5, but Amazon don't do half stars. I'd only take half a star off for the minor negs.

Not just another feature packed music device; ZEN V embodies theintegration of form and functionality. Small is the new beautiful.Enjoy your music in a pebble!
Creative Zen V 2 Gb, 2008-02-09 I bought one of these 3 months ago and have had no problems at all since I first got it. Sound quality is very good and I also got the full set of mains adaptors, and those worked fine too. My only criticism is that it should be sold with a mains charger as standard. I just got the Travel Sound docking speakers-excellent sound quality for their size.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ITEM DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN FM RADIO
This Gave Me A New Hobby: MUSIC!!, 2007-01-17 Welcome to 2007 friends! I've decided to now do Review's for more than just Computer-Video Games!! Mostly, Music, Films and other fancy gadgets, so let's get started!!
It was around late 2005 when my brothers were interested in an IPod/MP3 Player! It turned out that my two brothers got themselves a small MP3 Player, which allows them to play their own music! I got myself interested in music as well and I finally had my very own MP3 Player for Christmas in 2005!
The Creative MuVo MP3 Player is a small piece of machinery that is so easy to use! All you need to do is get some CD's or download music, place them on a Computer/Laptop as a MP3/WMA File, take out the MuVo part of the MP3 Player (which is a USB Cable), place it into you're PC and transfer all the music you want to that gadget! Then when you're ready, return it to the Creative part of the MP3 Player, grab some headphones and then dance, relax, sleep and sing along to all the songs you like!
I was mostly interested in Hip-Hop & Rap Music at first, mostly 50 Cent & Sean Paul, but as 2006 went by I died down on Hip-Hop/Rap and I now have a taste of everything, preferably songs that have reached Number 1 in the UK & in the USA! I research it all!
An advantage with the MP3 Player as well is that it can also record WAV Files which can be transferred to you're PC! You can record for up to about 40 Hours! Not only that, but you can also use the USB Cable part as a Memory Stick, which means, that you can transfer up to 512MB's of data (which is very handy if you don't have any disks or Hard-Drive!). Alone, the 512MB Creative MuVO MP3 Player can store up to 100 Songs! Don't forget you need an AAA Battery as well, which can last up to about 20 Hours alone!
There are disadvantages as well! Mostly it's the size, as while you're walking or working out the gym, the MP3 Player may fall or drop out, and if you don't lock the MP3 Player it can switch off or Pause you're song! You may realise as well, depending on the headphones and batteries you purchase, the song you listen may differ by sound and speed!!
But alas, since these MP3 Player's are under £[...] these days, who can complain? My mother had the 1 Gigabyte MP3 Player for Christmas in 2006 and I transferred 100 Songs for her!
Software Grade: 9.5/10: Not To Shabby, Not To Evil, But Very Good
My Wish: I do find it annoying when it slips out of you're pockets/hands and when the headphones get twisted around and damaged, so I wouldn't say no to a hook or so which attaches onto the MP3 Player and can easily slide through safely in the pocket without hassle!
Songs That I Think Sound Good On The Creative MuVo MP3 Player...
1. Akon Feat. Snoop Dogg: I Wanna Love You (2007)
2. Bobby "Boris" Pickett: Monster Mash (1962)
3. Duran Duran: Hungry Like The Wolf (1984)
4. Eddy Grant: Electric Avenue (1983 & 2001 Remix)
5. Eddy Grant: I Don't Wanna Dance (1982)
6. Genesis: Jesus He Knows Me (1992)
7. Genesis: That's All (1983)
8. Jamiroquai: Deeper Underground (1998)
9. Jamiroquai: Virtual Insanity (1996)
10. Limp Bizkit: Rollin' (2001)
11. Linkin Park: In The End (2003)
12. Lighthouse Family: Lifted (1996)
13. Men At Work: Down Under (1983)
14. Phil Collins: Another Day In Paradise (1989)
15. Queen: I Want To Break Free (1976)
16. Scissor Sisters: I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (2006)
17. Shaggy Feat. Rikrok: It Wasn't Me (2001)
18. Simon Webbe: Coming Around Again (2006)
19. Simply Red: Fairground (1995)
20. Simply Red: For Your Babies (1995)
21. Simply Red: Something Got Me Started (1995)
22. Simply Red: Stars (1995)
23. U2: Desire (1988)
24. U2: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (1987)
25. U2: Walk On (2001)
Final Comments: Overall, I recommend it to anybody who fancies some tunes while they're on their travels, or something to help you're singing speech! But please be careful when you're out and about with this in you're ears! Many people get run over and killed because they have loud music in their IPod's/MP3 Player's while crossing the roadwaays and forget big time, about the roads!! And that my friend is the truth!!

Amazing, 2008-08-20 I was given this as a gift after having my original MP3 player stolen. It's an amazing little device which has so many features. The sound quality is excellent and you can even sync it with your Outlook to store your calendar, tasks and contacts on. Excellent value for money too as I didn't even pay for it!! ;o)

A 'Sound' Buy, 2008-09-06 I bought the Creative EP510 earhook earphones to use with my Zen because the phones that came in the Zen pack, although good, kept falling out.
Having used many earphone types I have very surprised at how good the EP510's are. The frequency response for such a small earpiece is excellent,no tinny hiss and good bass reproduction, much better than earphones costing twice as much. I originaly bought these as 'cheapies' just to see if the earhook style was comfortable before buying a better pair. Having found that the fit suited me I bought some more expensive earphones, Philips SH8000/00's - a bad move. The sound produced by the Creative 510's is so much better that I will continue to use them. They may not be the best for convenience or style but they beat others for sound quality and at this price you will be hard put to find a better buy

Another job well done by Creative, 2006-12-03 It's only the OEM version of the card, so it doesn't come with a fancy box or anything like that. But what it does come with is a sticker, and a CD full of all the recommended software and drivers for it. The CD contains the SoundBlaster drivers, all of the control panel for it such as EAX control panel, speaker config, etc. Creative Media Source also comes with it, as does an automatic updater which is used to retrieve updates automatically off the web. Great for lazy people like me who don't want to navigate Creative's website looking for new drivers!
Before I had this soundcard, I was stuck with Realtek AC'97 onboard audio, and it's not really what I wanted. I record a lot of music off the computer, and it wasn't good enough. I have a Creative SB Live! in one PC, so I decided to get the next model up from that. The best settings for recording is to select 'What you hear'; you may have to increase the volume of your recordings in the software you use, but it's better than having the recording clipped like my onboard sound did.
The best thing about this soundcard is that you can alter the controls for the bass if you do not have any controls on the sub itself. In the control panel, you can have bass boost set by percentage and also change the cut off frequency, which will go between 10Hz and 200Hz. The sound quality is exceptionally clear and I find overall that the Creative drivers are much more compatible with other software, especially games, than my old onboard drivers. Good soundcard, not the newest piece of technology around, but it's affordable and gives you great output!

A refreshing approach, 2008-10-09 I rather like this interesting player, it is a very nice break from all the generic mp3 players on the market, while it doesn't have Ipod looks it is certainly very attractive. It is very plasticy but it does feel sturdy, and I have already managed to drop it a couple of times and no harm done. On the hardware side the sound quality produced when plugged into my sennheiser cx400s is very pleasing, don't however use the included earphones, they are terrible, but this is the case with pretty much every mp3 player so I am not going to take a star off for it. I am a great fan of the screen which has been criticised in many reviews. Yes it is low resolution and video's look awful on it, but its very bright, even viewable in direct sunlight and makes browsing the interface a joy. the integrated speaker is surprisingly loud for such a little thing but is very very tiny, wouldn't listen to music with it but for pod casts its quite useful. The UI is quite simply the best on any mp3 player of this price range, yes a little cluttered but it is very intuitive and I always know where to find what I am looking for. I can't comment however on the creative cenral software that has been touched upon by other reviews as I have simply been dragging and dropping my music onto the player.
I would defiantly buy this player again, its an extremely appealing product for almost half the price of an Ipod nano. If you are unsure buy it, you won't be dissapointed
