    Well worth a tenner!, 2009-12-31 For the average person looking to upgrade the sound quality from their iPod Nano through a hifi, this is a great option. After researcing all the alternatives, I settled on this 'Nano' dock for my newly purchased 5G to play through an audiophile grade amp and speakers.
With a ten pounds price tag, it was a lot easier to justify the cost compared to the discontinued Arcam RDock available for £100 or the IR Dock at £140. There are more expensive options than the Arcam models which differ by taking a direct feed bypassing the iPod's DAC, but you are talking serious money and this is only mp3 afterall.
The test track was a very well recorded and ripped Crosby Stills & Nash acoustic concert. The difference between the headphone jack and iPod dock connection is obvious with a huge increase in volume. It can be difficult to assess sound quality in this situation, but the sound through the dock had more depth and a musical warmth to it.
The dock itself isn't bad. It is clearly not made for the Nano, so it sits a little precariously on the dock connection, but some bluetak or something more aesthetically pleasing from the "bottom drawer" can be used to provide some support.
You will need the lead supplied with your iPod to charge your 4 or 5G Nano, I'm using the recommended Lupo USB charger purchased for a few quid here on Amazon and a decent quality 3.5 mmm white phono lead to connect to the hifi.
Conclusion:
A very cost effective and good looking solution.

    Compatibility with Early 2009 Mac Pro, 2010-02-03 Firstly, I can confirm that this product IS compatible with an early 2009 Nehalem Mac Pro, it works very well indeed.
The product I received was Apple part number MB363ZA/A, the date on the card is 2006.
System profiler reports the following details:

Installation for me was extremely simple, however the position of the aerial wires is far from obvious.
To install, remove the processor tray. This gives you loads of room to get your hands into the case. slip the card into the socket which is located to the left of the processor bay - it does NOT require force to insert. while holding the card down against the two screw posts at the top of the card, pop the two screws in, be careful tho, i suspect its very easy to loose them behind the motherboard. luckily the screws stuck to the end of my screwdriver and made this bit very easy.
When the screws are in place, attach two of the aerial wires to the card. Now this bit is a matter of debate - because nobody seems to know which are the right wires. There are three with small black labels numbered 1, 2 & 3. I used 2 and 3. I put number 2 onto the connector which is closest the bottom of the case, and number 3 onto the other one.
The wires are slightly tricky to clip on if you have big hands but try to keep them parallel to the board and you shouldn't have too many problems, they're a bit like press-studs
Anyways, the card works very well with perfect signal strength, all you have to do after installation is go into network preferences and confirm a new network device is present - it tells you, you have one and you just have to say yes... then its just a case of connecting to your wireless network and job done!
I STRONGLY suggest an attempt at finding the proper configuration of the wires - all I can say is 2 & 3 in the positions I've said, works ok for me. If you know different, please, please, please leave a comment because this information is so difficult to aquire. oh and I've tested it with bluetooth too and there doesn't seem to be any issues there either. both work perfectly well together.

    Apple does it again, 2009-09-06 I have the Ipod and have always been impressed with its capabilities. So when I thought about getting the Iphone, I had high expectations - especially considering all the hype that it's received - and I wasn't disappointed.
I came off a Sony Ericcson X1, which is a brilliant phone and was seriously concerned the Iphone wouldn't match up. I was wrong. The Iphone is really a hand held computer that just happens to make calls.
The touch screen is very sensitive and takes some getting used to but as with everything, practice makes perfect.
You can download applications straight to the phone via the App Store (available straight from 'desktop') which is a great little extra (be careful of which apps you choose, well worth checking out the user reviews first).
The screen is clear and large, the search engine which comes with the phone (Safari) does the trick. Also the phone has this excellent feature of being able to zoom in and out on the screen when you're online simply by 'pinching' your fingers open and closed on the screen.
The music function is excellent in that you don't need earphones to listen, there's an inbuilt speaker in the phone itself. Another nice feature.
Messaging and email is a doddle - as is setting up the accounts and syncing your contacts and bookmarks in Itunes. Sim contacts are simply imported straight into the phone.
There are little things which all add up to making this phone a real pleasure (i.e., a 'weather' icon on the 'desktop' which gives you the temp and weather for your area (once you program it in) at the touch of a finger. Very handy indeed.
I'm sure there are points I've missed but all in all this phone really is worth the hype. Functionality aside, it 'looks' and 'feels' good, slim line and small enough not to be bulky yet sizeable enough to be a pleasure to work with.
