I'd heard a *lot* and I do mean a *lot* of good things about these bad boys, (despite the reported "weirdness" of the ear buds and all associated feelings) so I took the plunge and got them through the post on the 15th. I was perfectly comfortable with them by the 17th, so don't worry about that factor. I would say it was like getting used to contact lenses or glasses for the first time.

The sound is fantastic and there is no leakage what-so-ever. Take them out, turn up the volume to 11 and stick your fingers over the ends to see what I mean. The base nears on the orgasmic and the definition just blows me away. With some stores selling at £15 - 30 these are absolutely fantastic value for money.

Not a lot to say other than this does indeed let me plug 2 things into the cigarette socket at once, things like iPods, mobile chargers and sat navs. Seems strong enough and doesn't protrude any more than necessary.

Can't believe how good it is, 2008-09-24
After years of owning MP3 players from Creative and i-River, the arrival of this thing persuaded me to take my first plunge into the world of iPods. Good move on my part - it's a sensational bit of kit.

If you're showing it off (you WILL want to....), start with the screen. The quality is amazing, whether for viewing films, TV programmes or music videos (all downloadable via iTunes), as well as photographs or album art. My wife was sceptical about this aspect of the Touch ('who'd want to watch a film on a thing this size?'), but that melted away on the very first demo. Next, show off the arcade-quality graphics of the games you've downloaded from the new Apps Store (tip: at £6, Super Monkey Ball is a steal - but boy is it difficult).

My Touch hooked up to my home wi-fi network instantly, allowing smooth (and free) access to the internet. Zoom in on pages by moving your fingers over the screen - neat. Apps and music from iTunes download quickly via the dedicated icons on the home screen (probably too easily for the sake of my bank balance, but many of the hundreds of apps are free or under a quid).

As an MP3 player, it excels. Sound quality is brilliant, and I think that Apple's bundled headphones are better than those you get from Creative or iRiver. I use it while running and, yes, I'm aware of the extra weight in my (zipped!) pocket, but it's fine. In any event, I'm going to invest in a Nike iPod plus sensor - now compatible with the Touch - and armband. Battery life seems good, although downloading and browsing use more juice than just listening to music. The seamless, user-friendly way it syncs with iTunes (you'll need version 8) is a match made in heaven: it makes all other MP3/computer relationships look clunky and steam-powered.

This is a thing of great beauty and deserves to be kept that way. So, I strongly recommend a cover or case of some description, because the highly polished stainless steel back is vulnerable. Mine already has a couple of tiny, barely visible scratches. Oh, and there's a well-cool, iPod-monogrammed anti-static cloth rolled up in the hard plastic packaging case. Watch you don't miss it - I nearly did.

I also had read many reviews for Ipod docking stations and had got myself thoroughly confused. Eventually I narrowed it down to 4 docks, and couldn't make a decision so I went to the local shops to test the docks out. I was really surprised by the quality of the sound and volume of this docking station. It was also streamline and sleek so sat nicely without being bulky! I love the radio function and found it really easy to tune and store - both in the shop and at home. Now i come home and turn on my docking station and bounce around the house doing my housework - its brilliant!
Cheapest price found was on Amazon - it turned up within 2 days so I was even more pleased!

Load of rubbish, 2008-10-03
This is the first iPod I've bought. I'm returning it on Monday (NB. I didn't get it from Amazon). To start with it took about 3 hours to get it on iTunes. It kept saying it had detected iPod in recovery mode and had to be restored. Click restored, same problem. No mention that there was a more up-to-date version of i-Tunes 8.0.1.11 rather than version 8 which I'd downloaded last week. Downloaded that and it finally recognised the iPod enabling me to name it and sync with library.
Back on my laptop at home, wanted to sync it with the music I held in that i-tunes library. It blew 2 out of 3 USB ports with power surges (they are USB 2.00, it needs 2.00) and the other one didn't even know it was there.

The start-up guide supplied is very brief - "plug it in". The earphones are awful. They don't stay in your ears and leak sound like water from a rusty bucket. Oh and the 8GB is 7.3GB.

If you get it working it's pretty dinky. Easy to move around the menus, light, just the right size..love the colour.

I'm not a complete IT idiot but found the problems with getting this to work initially and not being able to get it working on my lappy really frustrating. I am very disappointed.

this product is way better than the cx300. bass is still heavy so very good. if anyone says that there is no bass on the cx400 they need there ear examined or have bought a fake cx400 from china. its a good upgrade.

After those shoddy apple ipod phones these come as smart relief the sit snugly in my ears, planting the music fully in my lobe -for the price just what you would hope for - they don't fall out you have three bud sizes to choose from and you can walk about with out them slipping out all the time..Plus they block out the innate chatter of other passengers on the bus..yay
