Illustrations are not as good as I hoped, 2008-07-28
The text is interesting enough and provides a bit of light bed time reading, I'm not in any way qualified to comment on the recipes; my main reason for purchasing this book was the prospect of another set of fine illustrations by R McPhail. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with them; one or two are very good but in general they are not outstanding, most are simply what you would expect from any standard book illustrator and not from a first-rate sporting artist.

This has to be the funniest book I have read in years, you can actually hear Gene Hunt's voice in your head as you read it! a must for all fans of the show.

also it seems a lot cheaper on Amazon than elsewhere!

I purchased this as a present for a friend's birthday - she was over the moon with the book, and spent Sunday making dinner with recipes from the book. I shall definitely be purchasing this for others come Christmas due to the feedback i've received!

This was bought as a gift for a hunting shooting and fishing type who was delighted with it. Very funny little illustrations and comments - perfect for the gunslinger who finds his aim is a little off and needs a good excuse.

You can't beat the price for this set. Unlike the other reviewer I had no pen marks in my book, and there was no dust. Perhaps that was a one-off thing? Anyway, the set is gorgeous, the book is very informative. It would make a great gift for someone interested in sushi, or for yourself if you are learning how to make sushi for the first time, like me. I highly recommend it!
