Medival Spain, 2008-10-17 To me this book was simply amazing. I particularly like historical fiction, and in the Cathedral of the Sea there's not only that but also all the stories around it.
The book tells the life of Arnau and has a bit of everything: abuse of power, the inquisition, envy, romance, injustice and so on. It really addresses lots of different themes of the time plus all the historical background.

Chuckle double effect!, 2008-10-01 Making Money is a Discworld novel and features the Man in the Golden Suit, Ankh-Morpork's Postmaster Moist von Lipwig.
Moist is bored. He misses his old, more adventurous life, back when he was Albert Spangler the con artist. So when he's not running the Post Office, he likes climbing to its roof at night, and has already picked all its locks.
But when Mrs Topsy Lavish, chairwoman and owner of 50% of the Royal Bank of Ankh-Morpork, but owner also of Mr. Fusspot the dog who owns 1%, dies and leaves her shares to her dog and bequeaths Mr. Fusspot to Moist... he has no choice but try and make it work again.
It starts with the Mint, which actually runs at a loss. Since making coins costs too much and people are already using stamps as currency, Moist devises the first bank notes, which soon have the same success as his stamps.
In the meantime, Cosmo Lavish tries to take Vetinari's identity and Moist's girlfriend Adora Belle Dearheart uncovers ancient golems buried in the desert. And all the while the Glooper gloops.
I really like the character of Moist von Lipwig and was glad to read about him again. The book is of course filled with references that make you chuckle twice: when you get them, and when you find yourself clever because to got them... it's the Discworld double effect!

Stunning, 2003-05-01 The French Kitchen amazed me. Harris and Warde collaborated to ensure that we can access to some amazing recipes that are presented beautifully with lush pictures and captivating text. We get the best of Harris's rich and diverse command of language and Warde's incredible passion for all things food. I read Fran Warde's column in Red Magazine religiously and have used her menu plans for Christmas etc with excellent success. This book simply reporves what I already knew about both authors - they are incredible. I shake the hand of whoever's idea it was for them to work together!

Very good, but could've been better..., 1999-04-11 This is the first of Robert's books that I've read . I liked the characters and the plot was suspensefull but I felt that the characters relationship could've been done better. I didn't like the ending much either, I was expecting more of a "WOW!" feeling after finishing the book but I felt more of a "Eh, good book" feeling. I recommend it but there were certain slow chapters that I thought could've been left out all together. Overall though...it was pretty good.

A marketing trick, 2004-02-14 I have been practising the five and the additional sixth rite for a year now, performing them at least once a day 21 times and, I have not noticed any change whatsoever. I do not look younger and I get sick as often as other people who do not use the rites. I do feel a slight energy uplift, however that you also get from any other physical workout. To all those people who claim to look years younger because of the rites I have one thing to say: show me. Show me a "before" and "after" picture. Doesn't it explain a lot that so far all these "miracles" were only described on paper? Why are there no pictures of colonel Bradford? Maybe because then the myth would be dispelled? Who would believe in the rites if you would see a picture of a 74 year old man (looking 74) who claims to look like 40? Who would still want to buy the fountain of youth book then and use the rites? Is it not the best advertisment to actually show people the miraculous results of the system? All those dietary systems use pictures to prove the effectiveness of their systems, why not do the same for the rites? I have to conclude that is because the rites do not work and the author(s) know it. But hey it's an easy way to get money. Tell people that with a minimum of effort they can reverse the aging process and become young and healthy again. All you need to do is buy our book (wait let's write a second book which just repeats the same crap so we can even make more money). And people buy into it, ofcourse. If you are interested in the rites, by all means try them. But be critical, keep questioning and draw you own conclusion, like I did.

I couldn't put the book down. I was totally absorbed in it., 1998-03-03 I thought the book was fantastic. But, what Nora Robert's novel isn't. The first book I read of hers was "True Betrayals", and after that I just kept buying more and more of her novels. I especially liked Carnal Innocence. Keep them coming Nora!
