Key Words Flash Cards: Key Words Flash Cards (Key Words Reading Scheme)

Good clear flashcards and great for games, 2008-03-10
These flashcards are lovely and clear and cover the first 100 keywords which represents roughly half of all words we read.
The box suggests you can play games with them but does not suggest any. However, it is not hard to work out many games to play such as putting words together from the same stables such as question words: why who why where when what or place words: here there, where or similar words such as on/no, or similar sounding words such as: he, we, she, be etc...You can also use them to build up simple sentences. The important thing is to have fun and have lots of repetition.

The difference this made to my children's reading progress was incredible as they breezed through all the common words and this solid base, combined with the phonic approach, helped them decifer more complicated words by using the combined method of phonics and recognition of familiar letter patterns from key words.(eg.once you know 'all' it is easy to move on to ball call fall hall etc...)

Snort! Snort! Sticker Activity Book (Peppa Pig)

I was impressed as to how thoughtfully this sticker book had been produced for learning play particularly the 'which picture comes next in the sequence?' options. There are stickers for every page, and some pages have characters to colour according to the added stickers. I cut out the groups of stickers so that they were ready for my two-year-old granddaughter to select page by page, so she needed very little help. We both very much enjoyed the quiet activity, but I have to say, apart from the colouring, the whole lot was accomplished in 20 minutes!

Peppa Pig

Excellent, 2008-02-20
My 3 year old loves this. The blocks create the pictures shown in the board book. It keeps them interested for ages and shows all the favourite characters. A must for any Peppa fan.

My son loves this book. Lots of different things to see & touch. Includes mirrors and crinkly card. Flaps are a bit fragile though.

My daughter (nearly 3) loves this book. You read the story and she follows along and pushes a button for the appropriate sound effect.

First Cot Book (First Focus)

Excellent stimulation for tiny babies, 2008-01-26
I bought this cot book while pregnant, and have been using it to entertain my twin boys who were born premature. This cot book has been used in their incubators in NICU, and they absolutely love it. They stare at each image with wide eyes, and reach out to touch it. Sometimes it gets a bit much for them since they are still tiny, so we only use it for short periods of time. However, it is clearly excellent stimulation and I am sure that the boys will continue to be entertained as they grow a bit bigger.

I think this is a great first for your child on the subject of colors.. It contains the 4 essential colors, blue, red, yellow and green, each color has its own 2 pages with 2 different illustrations representing the colour, you also can learn the animal names from it too! added bonus. Do add this book to your collection.
