This book is well laid out, with a good contents overview backed up by an excellent index. However that sounds boring, and this book is anything but. There are complete guides to specific sites, towns and countryside, and the illustrations are colourful and clear. This is backed up by more general but exhaustive information about the practicalities such as food, drink, transport, money and local customs including local fiestas and events. I have booked my holiday based around this book, and hope I'll be able to report favourably in June 2009!

Canada (DK Eyewitness Travel Guide)

The book is really easy to look up whatever you want, it is split into geographical sections. It shows lovely colour photos throughout, so you can actually get a feel for what places are like. There is a large, helpful section on practical information, with everything you need, and also restaurant, accomodation listings, the usual.
There is quite a bit of writing, but is laid out in a way that is easy to read, and easy to find exactly what you are looking for.
The book has been a great help! =)

Rome (DK Eyewitness Pocket Map & Guide)

I've been collecting this series of books as I've been visiting diferent cities and find then very good to keep in your back pocket. This one includes not only a map of the city but also a map of the underground and a page by page quick insight into all the sights. Very brief but very handy. A must have for any holiday.

London (DK Eyewitness Pocket Map & Guide)

Like all things DK - this guide is extremely well presented and thought out. It includes various maps including street maps for the central area and a tube map. There are also enlargements of key areas with the key tourist attractions marked out. Each attraction gets a paragraph or so explaining the key facts or opening times. There is also a quick guide to a few of the shops, bars and restaurants in each area.

This book works very well as a pocket reminder and guide to slip in your pocket while out and about. Because some of the facts are very limited you would probably like to complement this with a full size guide... But that is what it was designed for anyway!

I bought this guide for a 4-day trip to Barcelona in April. I liked the fact that it fit easily in my pocket, so I cold pull it out whenever I needed to consult the map, or look up a street name in the index. It also contains condensed information about all the major sights.

This guide is very helpful in initial planning and also as an accompaniment. This is compact. It is full of information.
It contains a pocket map of city and metro map as well. Loads of photographs. very nice.
