Biggest help ever!, 2006-06-15 I love this book, I've been struggling with conjugation in french for what feels like years. I recently realised that this was my biggest problem at school, because at the time, I really didn't understand why I wasn't getting it.
When you first open the book, it can be confusing for the beginner (I've been trying to learn french on and off for quite some time but I still consider myself a beginner). However, going through it initially page by page, it becomes really simple. The instructions are all in there for the different tables and this guides you in how to use the book. There is also a helpful french to english index section at the back of the book, though not comprehensive.
I cannot recommend this highly enough, it's just perfect to use in conjunction with whatever form of lessons you are taking (tutor, audio etc). In respect of this, you will find it useful for constant reference in finding the right forms for your sentences. Using this book has given me a clearer understanding of French grammer which is all important when learning another language.
Another note, is that the book is small and light enough to carry with you everywhere, not pocket small, but still a great size.

Conjugation of French Verbs, 2005-05-17 I find this conjugation book incredibly useful, due to its neat format and accurate content referencing. My version is the 1966 edition, hardback, which I have found is the best format, because it is very resistant to wear and tear. Even though there is now a version with 12,000 verbs, 8,000 is very sufficient, as I have not found a verb I have been unable to conjugate. Within the text, it explains irregularities for each verb, and highlights things to look out for. The tenses contained are: Indicatif: Présent; Passé composé; Imparfait; Plus-que-parfait; Passé simple; Passé antérieur; Futur simple; Futur antérieur. Subjonctif: Présent; Passé; Imparfait; Plus-que-Parfait. Imperatif: Présent; Passé. Conditionnel: Présent; Passé 1re forme; Passé 2e forme. And also the Infinitif présent/passé and Participe présent/passé. I would highly recommend both the 8,000 verb editions, or any of the 12,000 verb editions. The only flaw, I find, is that because it was not originally aimed at French language learners, but at French language speakers, it does not explain the verb meanings either in French or in English.

oui oui oui, 2006-01-03 Anybody who would like to parler français have to have this tiny little helpul book, time and tense are too complicated in French to learn everything at school so with the good book of French grammar you can do it... INDICATIF SUBJONCTIF IMPERATIF CONDITIONNEL (4 modes/aspects) with présent (present), passé simple passé composé (past #1 & 2)imparfait (perfect), plus que parfait (pluperfect), passé antérieur (can't translate that), futur simple (future) futur antérieur (ante-future?) I'm French and don't even know when to use each, most of the times, here with a 157-page-book you have a 1200 verbs dictionary---> Great!!
