Coast: The Walks

I had the choice between this book and the readers digest equivalent. The Book People were at work so all I got was a quick look through and decided on this one pretty much just down to the fact this book had little maps which provided an overveiw of each walk - I have to have maps wherever I go because I will get lost otherwise.

I got back to my desk, had a look at reviews on Amazon for both books and was pleased when the Readers Digest one didnt seem to do too great but this was then blown away because this book had NO reveiws.. and to be honest I don't know why.

When I got home I had a good look through and I was very pleased this was my choice.. it is so well thought out. I'm not particularly into walking but I do go camping now and again and I bought it for ideas of what to do and where to go.

* The book provides a number of walks on the Coast of England Scotland and Wales, and also a couple of little isles.
* The 1st page gives an overview of the British Isles with each walk located by number and colour-coded to the difficulty of the walk.
* The walks are featured in the book in numbered order as you go clockwise round the map of Brtain so you dont have to go routing through the whole book to find a particular walk.
* Each walk is not only colour-coded for easy, meduim or hard, but it also tells you whether it has access for wheelchairs and/or pushchairs, and also tells you how long in miles each walk is.
* Each walk has a small box with a little map in which gives an overview of each walk with the route highlighted in yellow (be careful because now and again there will be a road which is coloured a slightly different shade of yellow which can be confusing if you're not careful!). With the map there is also a bit more info, including the start and finishing points of the walk.
* On the maps the are numbers which represent specific sights or buildings, etc. for the walk and these are explained and described quite in depth in the walk decription, along with various colour photos so you can identify the features and grasp and appreciate the history of each town/village/area.
* The maps also show camping sights, parking, etc which most maps do, just so you are more aware of your surroundings.

There are walks for everyone whether you are more into the countryside or picturesque citys or marinas. I can't wait to go camping again and using the book although the coast of Britian isn't covered 100%, it's a good start!

The only thing I will say it that I could do with it being a little bit smaller and wlaker-user friendly only because I WILL be taking it around with me and I think it may get ruined as I'm rambling through one of it's walks, probably reading it as I go just to make sure I don't miss anything!

As I said I bought it for something to do when I am holidaying within Britain so as a novice I think it is great. If you are a more accomplished walker then perhaps you'll need to go to a bookshop to flick through to make sure you don't already know the stuff in it.

Even so I would definately recomend it to anyone even slightly interested in this sort of thing because there is so much information but not too much to overwhelm you, it is very user friendly in its layout and the information in it and a real bargain (I am even more impressed I got it brand new for £5!) but I would be prepared to pay Amazons price also.

In the Night Garden (Little Library)

Superb little set of books!, 2008-01-09
We gave this delightful set to my little girl for Christmas (she is almost three). Of all of the presents that she got, this was her favourite. Makes me wonder why we spent so much money on all of her other gifts when she was happiest with a set of books that cost less than £3.

Yes they are now getting a little battered from her constant handling of them but to be honest, I would be more than happy to replace them with another set for just £2.79 when they do finally fall apart.

I don't see why other reviewers have moaned about the small size of the books as they are for small children after all and they don't exactly cost much do they.

All in all, a superb set of 6 books which any little fan of In The Night Garden will love. You can trust me on that, having seen the joy it has given my daughter over Christmas.

Good Food, 101 Hot and Spicy Dishes

This book contains an abundance of amazingly tasty dishes, and many are so simple and quick to make, you may just feel like you've cheated in some way to produce the such wonderful flavours. Some recipes do contain a lot of ingredients, and/or some ingredients are hard to find, but many recipes do not, yet the results are just as exotic. The mustardy meatballs and and sizzling salmon are exceptional.

This is especially a great book if you've just started to learn to cook and want to impress yourself!

"Top Gear": 2009 Annual

A Must Have For Young Fans Of The Show, 2008-10-10
This book is fantastic! My son watches Top Gear with me all the time and when he saw the book advertised on amazon, he begged me to buy it for him and he certainly wasn't disappointed. It is packed with information and fun things to do. It will keep him amused for hours. There aren't really any books for children with an interest in cars, so this was a great buy and fantastic value

Stupidly Hard Quiz Book ("Top Gear")

I am 15 years old and a huge fan of Top gear, so I thought I'd buy this book to test my knowledge of the programme. Although i suspect it may be aimed at a slightly younger audience, say 12/13 I still thoroughly enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone who loves Top Gear and thinks they know the programme inside out. Good job BBC!

Good Food, 101 Cakes and Bakes

Something for everyone!, 2008-08-02
I absolutely love this little book! I've had it for a while and it has been a very good companion to me. Whenever i feel the need to bake, out it comes! There much to choose from, such as healthy muffins to the more indulgent cakes and cookies, as well as that it caters for kids and adults alike. I still haven't managed to get through all the recipes, but I haven't found a bad one yet. For lovers of baking, i promise it's a must buy!

I bought all 4 books from this collection, they are perfect for youngsters.
The pages are thick card, so not so easy to rip, bend or mutilate!!!
Any drool is easily wiped clean too :o)

Good little bedtime story books, with nice story, good colours & plenty of familiar faces from the TV progrm.

Highly recommended.

The Official "Doctor Who" Annual 2009

A great gift for any Dr Who fan!, 2008-10-02
My son aged 10 is heavily into Dr Who and was dying to get this annual. He was impressed by this new one and found it both interesting and entertaining. Although a cheap gift he rated it above some of the PS2 games he was given!!! Would recommend this annual for any Dr Who fan.
